Parameters for Goals

You can set the following parameters for your goals:

  • Type of goal — Select the category of the goal; options include productivity, units, drinks percentage, flavors and PLUs, and others.

  • Type of data — Select the category of the data that you want used for the goal; options include number of sales or value of sales; number of sales is the default.

  • Days and day parts — Select the days of the week and the parts of each day that you want to include in the goal.

  • Historic data — Select which historic data that you want used as the basis for the goal; options include 4-week average, 6-week average, last week, and last year; 4-week average is the default.

  • Recurrence — Select how long you want the goal to remain in effect; maximum period is 12 weeks.

If you select a long period of time (such as 12 weeks) for a goal to remain in effect, you might encounter issues because the historic data may not accurately reflect the sales data for the duration of the goal. Typically, you should align the period of time when the goal is in effect with the historic data used as the basis for the goal.

Once you set these parameters, the Goal Setting tool uses the data to estimate values associated with the goals that you set. The tool displays that estimated value and modifies it when you change the parameters. For example, if you change the day part for a particular goal, you can see how that change affects the potential value to your restaurant if your staff achieves the goal.
